Hop a ChatGPT chat to Claude
Chat Transfer (Chrome) hops the current ChatGPT thread locally to Claude, Gemini, or Grok without account migration.
Version 0.4.0 pastes a handoff into the other composer. Paste does not silent-send. Add to Chrome
What “hop ChatGPT to Claude” means here
Search results mix two jobs. Chat Transfer only does the first:

Steps: ChatGPT → Claude in Chrome
- Add Chat Transfer from the Chrome Web Store (0.4.0).
- Open the ChatGPT chat you want to continue.
- Open the popup → choose Open target / hop toward Claude (or use the hop-to-last-used shortcut if you bound one).
- Claude’s new-chat page gets a best-effort paste. If the composer is empty, paste the hop backup yourself.
- You click Send — unless Soft Auto-Send is on (see below).

Payload choices
- Full — the turns read from the open page, wrapped with a short continue line.
- Last N — the last N turns. N starts at 10. Presets set 4, 8, or 16.
- Last assistant — only the last assistant reply.
Overflow: over about 12k characters, the composer gets a short Last N (or compact) paste and the full Markdown downloads as a .md so a cut is not silent. Copy and Export stay the full unwrapped transcript — no hop wrapper.
Soft Auto-Send (opt-in, default off)
A hop paste does not silent-send. Soft Auto-Send is opt-in (chrome.storage, default off). After a successful paste it asks once: “Send this hop now?” Confirm presses destination Send once; Cancel leaves the paste; a failed paste never asks. Full walkthrough: Soft Auto-Send. What stays on your device
No Chat Transfer backend. Extract runs when you click or use Copy Markdown / Hop. Settings stay in local chrome.storage. Copy, hop backup, and Copy Markdown write the clipboard. Visible attachments become [attachment not exported: …] — file bytes are not invented.
When not to use a hop
- You need images/files re-attached on the destination — hop notes them; it does not rebuild binaries.
- You want background scraping while you browse — Chat Transfer only reads when you act.
