Soft Auto-Send
Soft Auto-Send is Chat Transfer’s opt-in hop checkbox that, after a successful destination paste, asks once “Send this hop now?” before it may press Send — it is default off in version 0.4.0 and never silent-sends.
The Chrome extension is live on the Chrome Web Store. Soft Auto-Send is a hop setting, not account migration, and it does not upload chats. Add to Chrome
What Soft Auto-Send is (and is not)
A hop copies the open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Grok thread and pastes a wrapped handoff into another composer. The paste step itself never clicks Send. Soft Auto-Send is the optional extra after that paste: one confirm dialog on the destination page. It is not a background scraper, not a sync pipe, and not a “send on paste” default.
The checkbox sits in the hop checks on the popup and the side panel, beside Try attach full.md. Both surfaces share one local key: hopSoftAutoSend in chrome.storage.local. A missing key is off. There is no upgrade path that turns it on for existing installs. Try attach can put a file in the composer; that path still never clicks Send.

Steps: turn it on, then hop
- Add Chat Transfer from the Chrome Web Store (0.4.0).
- Open the popup or side panel on a ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Grok tab.
- Check Soft Auto-Send. The hint reads: after a successful hop paste, ask once to press destination Send. Off by default. Cancel leaves the paste. Never silent.
- Pick a hop payload (Full, Last N, or last assistant) and open a target, the same flow as hopping a ChatGPT chat to Claude.
- Wait for the paste to land. If the composer is empty, paste the hop backup yourself first — Soft Auto-Send does not run on a failed land.
- When the dialog appears, Confirm or Cancel. Uncheck the box any time to go back to press-Send-yourself.

What Confirm actually does
Confirm is one best-effort press, not a retry loop that keeps submitting. The hop inject itself (injectCompose) still does not click Send. After you accept the dialog, Chat Transfer looks for a pressable Send control — light DOM first, then known composer shadow hosts so a page-level “Send feedback” control is not the target. If Send is not pressable on the first look, it polls for about two seconds (composer shells such as Gemini’s can enable Send a moment after paste). One click, then stop. If that click still misses, it may dispatch one plain Enter on the composer. That is the whole press budget for that hop.
Status copy stays honest:
- Off, cancel, or paste-not-ok: “You still need to press Send.”
- Click or Enter counted as a press: “Clicked Send once. If the hop is still in the box, press Send yourself.”
- No usable control: “Send control was not found. You still need to press Send.”
Login or redirect pages are not “successful paste.” Soft Auto-Send does not ask there. Overflow hops (over about 12k characters) still put a short paste in the box and download the full Markdown; Soft Auto-Send only cares whether that short paste landed, not whether you attached the file.
Local only
The preference lives next to Demo mode, Keep system prompt, hop payload, and last-used target in on-device chrome.storage. Soft Auto-Send adds no host_permissions, no downloads permission, and no new keyboard command. Chat Transfer has no backend. The marketing site does not receive hop text. Same facts as the privacy policy (2026-10-09) and the local-only note.
This is still “this thread,” not a full-account move. History folders, memories, custom GPTs, and Projects stay where they are. Soft Auto-Send only answers who may press Send after a paste you already asked for.
FAQ
Is Soft Auto-Send on by default?
No. Fresh install and missing storage behave like 0.3.106: paste lands, Send is never clicked. You have to check the box.
Does a hop silent-send when Soft Auto-Send is off?
No. Paste never silent-sends when the setting is off. That is the default path on the live 0.4.0 listing.
What if I cancel “Send this hop now?”
The paste stays in the destination composer. Chat Transfer does not click Send. The status still says you need to press Send.
Does Copy or Export auto-send?
No. Soft Auto-Send is hop-paste only. Copy writes the clipboard. Export writes a file on this device. Neither presses destination Send.
Does this migrate my ChatGPT account?
No. It is a chrome extension auto send hop opt-in for the thread you have open. It does not move accounts, memories, or later messages.
