What this extension does

Chat Transfer helps you export chat text from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Grok into a local Library, then find that archive later and continue on another of those sites. Copy and hop stay available. It runs locally in your browser.

Data we collect

We do not collect, sell, or transmit your chat content to our servers. This extension has no backend and does not phone home.

What stays on your device

Chat text is read from the open page only when you click Copy, Export, Copy last response, or Open target, or when you use the Copy Markdown / Hop keyboard shortcuts.
Clipboard writes happen when you click Copy / Copy last response, as a backup when you click Open target (or Hop), and when the Copy Markdown command runs. Hop paste may also write into the destination composer after you open a target.
Optional settings (for example Demo mode, Keep system prompt, hop payload, last-used target, Soft Auto-Send, Shrink filler, and the in-page button) are stored in chrome.storage on your device.
Library archives stay in chrome.storage.local. Large bodies may use IndexedDB. Optional folder index uses the File System Access API only after you pick a folder. Denied permission leaves the in-extension Library as-is.
Exported Markdown / JSON / ZIP files are saved to your browser download folder when you choose Export. Large hops may also download a full Markdown file for overflow.

Soft Auto-Send

A hop paste does not silent-send. Soft Auto-Send is opt-in, stored in chrome.storage on your device, and off by default. After a successful paste it asks once: “Send this hop now?” Confirm presses destination Send once; Cancel leaves the paste; a failed paste never asks and never presses Send. It adds no permissions and does not upload chats.

Permissions (why)

activeTab / scripting / tabs: read the current chat page and inject hop paste when you ask.
Host access to Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini / Grok domains: only those sites.
clipboardWrite: copy the transcript when you click Copy / Copy last response, as a hop backup, or via the Copy Markdown / Hop shortcuts.
storage: remember your popup options, including Soft Auto-Send, and keep Library archives on this device.

This website

This static site (aichattransfer.com) only hosts product and privacy information. It does not receive chat content from the extension.

Optional Google Analytics 4 and PostHog may load on marketing pages only after you allow them in the consent banner. They record page views, a site label (aichattransfer.com), and clicks on Chrome Web Store / install buttons. Chat content never leaves the extension. The browser Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control preference keeps analytics off. Vercel Web Analytics is not used. The Chrome extension still does not phone home.

Children

This extension and website are not directed at children under 13.
